Early May, 2008 Fishing Report - Watauga Trophy Section
The sulfur bite is still good both on top and
subsurface. Size 16-18 sulfur nymphs and 16-18 compara dun or
parachute dries are working well. Swing sulfur wet flies during
the hatch to catch the fish eating emergers. Big midge hatches
are taking place in the early morning hours. Size 22 blackfly
midge larva dead drifted or short stripped has produced well. A
few blonde caddis are also being seen sporadically throughout
the day. Big schools of carp are spawning and some big brown
trout can be seen swimming amongst them. A few browns over 20
inches have been caught with streamers stripped through the
schools of carp.
