2008 Fishing
Report - South Holston
Sulfurs are still coming off during the high water float,
however, not as heavily in weeks past. Most of the fish being
caught on on scud and midge patterns nymphed deep.
The terrestrial bite is heating up during the high water
floats, and should continue to improve as the season progresses.
The wade fishing has been exceptional during low water levels.
Midge and cranefly patterns are producing best on lightweight
nymph rigs. Dry fly
dropper rigs have also produced well in shallow riffles and
shallow still water. For best results use down and across
presentations and 15ft leaders when fishing the still shallow
water. Big browns are being caught using this technique when
sightfishing conditions are favorable.
