May 28, 2008 Fishing Report - South Holston
Lots of sulfurs are coming off on the lower
South Holston. We deaddrifted dry fly dropper rigs over deep
water pools and slow runs with good success. The scud bite was
best in the early mornng hours. The midge bite was consistant
all day. Fishing sulfur nymphs in riffle water produced well
preceding the hatch at 2:30. Fishing was technical with the
clear skys and high pressure, however, this provided some
sightfishing opportunites. The biggest fish was 29” brown caught
sightfishing with sulfur nymphs. He was landed on 6X flouro
tippet. Take a look at our gallery page to check him out.
