Report - South Holston
River
Sight fishing has been the preferred
method to catch the big browns that are grouped up in the flat
water. Down and across presentations, 12 ft. 6X fluorocarbon
leaders, and size 24 flies has been the way to go. Three fish
over 25 inches have been landed by our guest in the last month
on a certain stretch of still water. All three fish were spotted
before they were caught, and each one ate a size 20 or smaller
fly. Experienced anglers are encouraged to take a trip with our
guides stalking the big browns on the South Holston. Craneflies,
sulfurs, and bluewings have been the dominant hatches. The
midges are also hatching sporadically throughout the day, mostly
over sandy bottoms. |
